Volunteer with Open Garden Day
Open Garden Day is 100% volunteer-driven, and we are always looking for friends to help our community bloom! While our 2026 roster is mostly full, we are actively building our volunteer team for our 20th Anniversary on Saturday, May 8, 2027.
Our attendees constantly rave about Open Garden Day volunteers for being extremely friendly and helpful. Our volunteers help make the event stand out and our community shine.
How You Can Help
- Garden Docents: The friendly faces of our event! Responsibilities include greeting visitors, sharing provided information about the garden, answering general questions, and counting visitors. Each garden requires at least four docents. Two for the morning shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and two for the afternoon shift from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
- Setup/Cleanup Crews: For those who like to be hands-on, join our crews to help prepare the Promenade and gardens in the morning or pack up in the late afternoon.
- Information Booth / Promenade: Assist at our information booths, help direct attendees on Westwood Avenue, or assist with wristband pickup.
- Event Subcommittees: Have a specific passion or skill? We are always looking for help coordinating specific event elements year-round!
The Perk: As a thank you for being a valued volunteer, you will have free access to tour and enjoy the gardens before or after your shift.
